Chez Jérôme opened its doors to the public on 31st May 2005, in a beautiful establishment in Whymper N30-96 and Coruña. The house in which the restaurant is located once belonged to artist and Quito-lover Gie Neustatter who donated the rent from the house to the National Conservatory of Music. The house has been awarded status as a National Cultural Heritage Site.
The house, whose original decor has been maintained, is situated on a small hill and surrounded by an extensively lush garden, sheltering Chez Jérôme from the hustle and bustle of the city and offering the visitor a peaceful environment in which to enjoy a true feast in an exclusive and elegant context.
Crockery, cutlery, glasses, paintings, lamps and a host of other objects housed in the restaurant were brought exclusively from France for a truly French culinary experience.

MARIA AUGUSTA DE LA TORRE:
(Managing Director)
New in the gastronomic field, despite her husband being a chef. Her experience in business as a management assistant in firms such as Nestlé, Conoco and Pronaca has allowed her to take the lead in Chez Jérôme in a serious, responsible, modern and organised manner. In this sense, she provides a perfect balance between the craziness of the chef and the management of the restaurant.
JÉRÔME MONTEILLET:
(Le Chef)
Born in the south west of France, on the border with the Basque Country, Jérôme Monteillet studied gastronomy in France, with an emphasis on the practical side. Jerome has 14 years experience of working in 2 and 3 star restaurants (as classified by Michelin) such as La Tour d’Argent and Concorde La Fayette. With a desire to travel and discover the South American continent, he journeyed to the Brazilian jungle, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. Here he fell in love with the warmth of the Ecuadorian people and the country’s immense natural beauty, consequently he decided against returning to Europe in favour of embarking on a career in Ecuador. Jérôme has been in Ecuador for the last ten years where he has had a successful career in Quito working for the Hotel Oro Verde (now Swissôtel) and also a six-year stint as Head Chef in the Hotel Oro Verde in Guayaquil before starting his own culinary project here in the capital.
“My motto is a passion for food; I truly feel it and am therefore passionate in everything I do”.
